JASAFAR is a group of players who make the music they feel. We play original material in the blues vein – music that reflects urban life in the new millennium.

JASAFAR grew from a basement band of three musicians to its current complement of seven. This was a process of growth and change over a period of several years. We are a band of musicians from diverse backgrounds who have developed a sound which each member uses to express themselves individually, creating a sound that is uniquely JASAFAR.

JASAFAR is influenced by Muddy Waters and the Chicago Blues movement of the early 1950's and 60's. Our lead singer was influenced by artists such as Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Etta James.

The audience not only hears the music, but also feels the power of JASAFAR and can sense the enjoyment that each musician has in both their individual performance and the eclectic sound that can only be JASAFAR.
